Choose the approval reference

Identify the model, approved drawing revision, selected material and finish, accessory list and packaging arrangement. If an approved sample is used, record which features it confirms. A sample photograph alone does not define every tolerance or acceptance criterion.

Write down the inspection points

• Product identity and quantity against the purchase specification.
• Agreed dimensions, bowl depth, rim, holes and installation details against the drawing.
• Material evidence, finish and visible condition where required by the order.
• Selected functions, water connections and included fittings where applicable to the model.
• Accessory count, labels, carton protection and shipping marks against the packing list.

Specify any required measurement method, tolerance, sampling plan or buyer checklist before inspection. Do not assume a universal acceptance level or test method applies to every sink or destination.

Make evidence identifiable

Inspection photographs or records should be tied to the model and order, with the inspection date and checked item identifiable. Where functional or leak-test evidence is required, agree the test conditions and the information to be recorded before the check takes place.

Define what happens when a check fails

Record the issue, affected quantity, proposed correction and any recheck needed. Confirm who can approve a change or release decision. A message saying that an inspection is complete does not by itself establish that the order meets the agreed specification.
